地理位置
枣庄市位于山东省南部，处于苏鲁豫皖交界和淮海经济区的腹部地带。地理位置优越，交通便利。京沪铁路、京福高速公路、104国道、206国道、京杭大运河穿境而过。境内铁路全长288.5公里。京杭大运河境内航道68.5公里，与河北、江苏、浙江、上海等省、市贯通，境内共有港口72个，年吞吐能力达1300万吨。东边毗邻日照港、岚山港、连云港三大出海口，200公里半径之内有济南、徐州、连云港、济宁、临沂5个机场。
行政区划
枣庄市是山东省省辖市，辖市中、薛城、山亭、峄城、台儿庄5个区和滕州市1个县级市。全市总面积4560平方公里，总人口365万，其中城市面积100平方公里，城市人口60多万。
历史文化
枣庄地处孔孟之乡，是儒家思想地发源和传播地。境内的北辛文化距今已有7300多年的历史，滕国故城、薛国故城等分布在境内。枣庄在各个历史时期都涌现出许多杰出的代表人物。譬如春秋时期的墨家代表人物、被后世尊崇为“科圣”的墨子，其“兼相爱、交相利”的思想至今仍闪耀着伟大的光芒。墨子主张崇尚贤能的人才，重视科学技术，可以说是当时先进科技和先进生产力的代表。还有战国时齐相孟尝君，以“自荐”流芳后世的毛遂，“凿壁引光”的大经学家、西汉丞相匡衡，明代翰林、博学宏词的大文学家贾三近等历史人物。
物产资源
矿产资源：已探明的地下矿藏30余种，主要有煤、铁、铜、铝土、石膏、石英石、稀土、陶土、粘土、蛭石、大理石、花岗岩、石灰石、磷矿等。现已探明的三大煤田，含煤面积1017平方公里，储量25亿吨。石膏地质储量4.4亿吨，石灰石地质储量265亿吨，大理石地质储量2亿立方米，白云石地质储量3824万吨。
土地资源：土地总面积为45.5万公顷，其中耕地占53.7％，可划分为褐土、棕壤、潮土、砂姜黑土和水稻土五个类别，土壤面积占土地面积的76.7％。
水利资源：京杭大运河横穿市南部，境内其它中小型河流流域面积在100平方公里以上的有10条，有大中型水库5座。水资源总量为10.19亿立方米，人均占有量高于全省人均水平。
农产资源：主要粮食作物为小麦、玉米、水稻，是国家商品粮基地。拥有悠久的蔬菜种植历史，是全国著名的“芸豆之乡”、“土豆之乡”和无公害蔬菜基地。石榴、樱桃、优质梨、桃、板栗、红枣、核桃、李子、葡萄、苹果等十大林果基地年产各种水果20多万吨。
自然景观
峄城万亩石榴园，东西蜿蜒40余华里，被誉为“冠世榴园”而载入吉尼斯世界记录；抱犊崮国家森林公园因独具特色的植物种群享有盛誉；熊耳山双龙大裂谷以奇特的地质地貌被列为国家森林公园；运河古貌和微山湖红荷湿地遥相辉应；构成了一幅美丽的枣庄画卷。
公共事业
枣庄市境内已建成的电力机组装机容量231万千瓦，正在兴建的电力机组200多万千瓦。充足的电力能源供应，成为在枣庄投资兴业的一大优势。自来水生产和供应企业8家，污水处理厂3家，煤气生产和供应企业6家，蒸气生产和供应企业7家，城市和各工业区、开发区供水、供电、供气、供热配套设施齐全，基础设施完善。
经济发展
统计数据：2005年，全市GDP完成632．87亿元，其中，一、二、三产业增加值分组完成60.68亿元、404.44亿元、167.75亿元。全社会固定资产投资320．60亿元，粮食总产达到159.65万吨。规模以上工业增加值302.91亿元，社会消费品零售总额176.3亿元，进出口总额3.72亿美元，其中出口3.14亿美元。地方财政收入55.5亿元；各项存款余额227.33亿元，各项贷款余额258.61亿元。城镇居民人均可支配收入9881元，农民人均纯收入4241元。
支柱产业：枣庄市能源、建材、煤化工三大基地初具规模，已形成以煤化工为主导，以煤炭、建材、纺织、机械电子四大产业为支柱，同时拥有冶金、卷烟、造纸、橡胶、食品、医药等门类比较齐全的工业体系。2005年原煤产量3000多万吨，居全省第二位；兖矿鲁南化肥厂建有水煤浆气化国家工程中心，开发出拥有自主知识产权的新型气化炉技术，是国内发展煤化工产业的龙头企业，合成氨、醋酸、清洁燃料、低碳氢烃四大产业链正逐步形成；建材工业主要产品水泥年产量3400多万吨，石膏年产量700多万吨，均位居山东省第一位;平板玻璃年产量位居山东省第三位；纺织工业形成了纺、织、染、服装一条龙的生产体系；机械电子工业产品达30多个系列100多个品种，其中数控机床、台钻、标准件、电子元器件等产品在国际市场上具有较强的竞争力，磁性材料成为长江以北最大的生产基地；造纸工业以华润、华闻、万通等大企业为骨干，形成了包装、新闻和办公用纸品种较为齐全的产品系列。枣庄正从一座资源型城市发展成为产业体系比较健全的新兴工业城市。
对外开放
招商引资：枣庄把“枣庄以外就是外，借助外力发展枣庄”作为实现新世纪发展目标的重要战略措施来抓，取得了良好效果。开展招商引资活动五年多来，全市共签订招商引资项目合同5455个，合同利用外来资金1109亿元，实际到位外来资金478多亿元。招商、引资、引智，使枣庄的产业结构和经济实力得到迅速提升，城市面貌与功能得到明显改善，社会各项事业的发展得到极大促进。
外经外贸：改革开放以来，我市对外经济贸易发展迅速，已与100多个国家和地区建立了经贸往来关系，欧美、日韩、东南亚及港澳台等几十个国家和地区在我市设有投资企业或经贸办事机构，出口商品达400余种。2005年完成进出口总额3.72亿元，其中出口3.14亿元；实际利用外资1.02亿元；对外投资实现新的突破。
投资环境：枣庄市积极实施经济国际化战略，加快与国际接轨的步伐，建立和完善了以中央银行为主导、国有商业银行为主体、保险、证券、信托、信用社等金融机构并存的金融体系；设立了海关、商检；开办了外汇结算、存贷与调剂、国际航空快运和集装箱外运代理等涉外业务；成立了涉外审计、会计、律师、保险、外商投资企业协会、国际贸易促进会枣庄支会等工作机构；规划建设了各级工业园区和经济开发区。相继出台了一系列关于鼓励外商投资和优化投资环境的政策和规定，成立了经济环境投诉中心、招商引资服务中心、市行政审批中心，实施了行政提速工程，加大了环境整治力度，为投资者营造了比较宽松的政策环境、法制环境和服务环境。“一站式服务”、“绿色通道”、“保护制度”等配套完整的外商服务体系日臻完善，亲商、敬商、爱商、助商的良好氛围已经形成。
Overview of Zaozhuang
Location
In the south of Shandong Province and at the junction of four provinces, Zaozhuang City has superior location and convenient transportation. Beijing-Shanghai Railway, Beijing-Fuzhou Expressway, State Road 104, State Road 206 and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal run through territory with 288.5 kilometres of rail link and 68.5 kilometres fairways of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. There are a total of 72 ports in the territory, with an annual throughput of 13 million tons. Three harbors of Rizhao, Lanshan and Lianyungang are on the east of Zaozhuang City, with five airports of Jinan, Xuzhou, Lianyungang, Jining, Linyi within a 200 kilometres radius.
Administrative Divisions
As one of provincial municipality of Shandong Province, Zaozhuang administers districts of Shizhong,Xuecheng,Shanting,Yicheng,Taierzhuang and Tenghzhou Ctiy. The total area is 4,560 square kilometers, with a total population of 365 million; the urban area is 100 square kilometers, with more than 60 million urban population.
History and Culture
Zaozhuang, as the hometown of Confucius and Mencius, is originate and dissemination of the Confucian thinking. The Beixin Culture of the City has a history of over 7300 years. In the history, there have appeared many great people, such as Mencius, a great scientist during the Spring and Autumn Period, who is famous for his theory that people should love each other and benefit each other. Mencius insists that talents and technology should be attached importance to, and so he was the symbol of advanced thinking of his time. And Mengchangjun, the primary minister of ancient Qi Kingdom, Mr.Maosui, boasted down by his self-recommend spirit, Kuangheng, the great economist and primary minister in Xihan Dynasty and famous scholar Mr. Jiasanjin in Ming Dynasty.
Products and Mineral Resources
Mineral Resources More than 30 kinds of mineral deposits has been proved, such as coal, iron, copper, bauxite, gypsum, quartz rock, rare earth, pottery, clay, leech stone, marble, granite, limestone and phosphate. There are three major coalfields with an area of 1,017 square kilometers, reserves of 2.5 billion tons. Gypsum geological reserves are 440 million tons, limestone geological reserves are 26.5 billion tons, marble geological reserves are 200 million cubic meters and dolomite geological reserves are 38.24 million tons.
Land resources A total land area of 455,000 hectares, which accounted for 53.7% of cultivated land, can be divided into five categories cinnamon soil, brown earth, fluvo-aquic soil, cinnamon black soil and paddy soil. The soil area accounts for 76.7% of land area.
Water resources Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal runs through the southern part of the city. In the territory there are 10 small and medium rivers with drainage area of over 100 square kilometers and five large and medium-sized reservoirs. The total water amount is 1.019 billion cubic meters and per-capita output is higher than the province's per capita level.
Agro-resources Zaozhuang is one of the national grain production bases with the main food crops of wheat, maize and rice. It has a long history of cultivation of vegetables and is the famous for "hometown of kidney," "hometown of potato" and non-environmental pollution vegetable base. The total fruit output is over 200,000 tons including pomegranate, cherry, pears, peaches, Chinese chestnut, date, walnut, plum, grapes, apples, etc.
Natural Landscape
Yicheng Pomegranate Orchard, over 20 kilometers long from east to west, is listed in Guinness World Records; Baodugu national forest park is famous for its distinct vegetation types; Xiongershan, a mountain of primitive nature, is one of the country's geological parks. The Grand Canal connects with Weishan red-lotus wetland. All of them constitute a beautiful painting scroll.
Public Utilities
In Zaozhuang City electricity-generating capacity is 231 million kilowatts and sufficient energy supply is a major advantage to invest in Zaozhuang. There are eight water production and supply enterprises, three sewage treatment plants, six gas production and supply enterprises and seven steam production and supply enterprises. Infrastructure and supporting facilities including water supply, power supply, gas supply and heating are well equipped.

In 2005 GDP was 63.287 billion yuan, of which added value of the first, second and third industry is 6.068 billion yuan, 40.444 billion yuan, 16.775 billion yuan. The total fixed asset investment is 32.06 billion yuan. The output of foodstuff is 1.5965 million tons. Industrial added value is 30.291 billion yuan. The total retail sales of consumer goods is 17.63 billion yuan. The total import and export volume is 372 million US dollars, of which exports is 314 million US dollars. Local revenue is 55.5 billion. Deposits are 22.733 billion yuan and loans are 25.861 billion yuan of. Per capita disposable income of urban residents is 9,881 yuan and capita net income of farmers is 4,241 yuan per.
Pillar Industries
As three major bases of energy, building materials and coal chemical, Zaozhuang has established a complete industrial system, with coal, building materials, textile and electro-mechanicals as key industries, and metallurgy, cigarettes, papermaking, rubber, foodstuffs, medicines, etc. In 2005 coal production was more than 30 million tons, ranking the second place in Shandong Province; Yankuang Lunan chemical fertilizer plan sets up the water coal syrup to gasify the national engineering center, owning the independent intelligent property right new to gasify a technique, is a local coal chemical engineering group leader business enterprise. Four industrial chains to produce synthetic ammonia, acetic acid, clean fuel and low hydrocarbon deposits are gradually formed. The annual output of cement, main products of building materials industry was over 3,400 tons. The annual output of gypsum was over 700 million tons and the first in Shandong Province. The output of plate glass ranked third in Shandong Province. One-stop production system of spinning, weaving, dyeing, garment had been formed in textile industry. Mechanical electronics products amounted to more than 30 series and over 100 varieties, which numerically controlled machine tools, bench drill, standard component, electronic components and other products in the international market has strong competitiveness. Zaozhuang is the largest production base of magnetic material on north of the Yangtze River. The complete fairly products series of packaging, newspaper and office paper had been formed in paper industry with Huarun, Huawen, Wantong and other large enterprises as the backbone. Zaozhuang is becoming a more robust emerging industrial city from a resource-based zone.
Opening to outside world
Investment Promotion For over five years more than 5,455 investment contracts has been signed, contracted foreign capital is 110.9 billion yuan and direct foreign investment is 47.8 billion.
